As part of my endeavor to improve my geekiness in the latest and greatest in the world of technology, I've spent the best part of last week reading up on alternative operating systems, and I finally decided on the famed Ubuntu.
I Just installed Ubuntu 8.10 onto both my laptops and it's working wonderfully. It discovered my Wireless network quickly, grabbed hold of it and just drove off smoothly. My only gripe is my inability to install & operate Zain's Ego device within it.
I tried scavenging & Googling the net for some info, and the only close thing I got was an entry by KNRO (link) which wasn't much help to me (maybe because I'm not much of a hardcore geek).
Anyone out there with some useful kung-fu willing to help out? I'm using the old Zain Ego device, pictured here, with a 3.6 connection.

The "knro" link that you've provided was clear and easy to follow.
