Hayefism At It's Worst!

A while back I blogged about MP Hayef''s disgusting track record, as an MP and as a human being. Today, however, he's taken his anti-moderation antics to a whole new level. This so-called MP, and man of faith, has called for the religious leaders to 'consider sanctioning the death of the Syrian Ambassador in Kuwait'.

Internet Caps In Kuwait

I cant say much more than what's been said by Marzouq & Caffeinated on this issue, except that I'm as disgusted with this entire affair as they are, and probably even more so. i wont' get into my own activities, or how they're all rendered useless by the capping and the new FAP's, except that, for the money I'm paying, I'm being ripped off, and this ripoff is being sanctioned by the MOC.

I will also say that this state of affairs will not go on for long. Eventually, the government will capitulate, the ISP's will eventually grow up and face their responsibilities, and we will eventually be able to finally have affordable, price-perfect internet services in Kuwait.

Kuwaiti Orphanages turned into Brothels?!

I didn't expect this to be my first post for the year 2011, but after what I've read in today's Al Qabas newspaper, I couldn't help myself, not in the least! It's nothing to do with Politics, (for a change) although ti should! In fact, no one within the political circles of Kuwait, neither MP nor Minister nor even an under-secretary, ever mentioned this shameful and blasphemous misuse of power and funds that goes on right under Kuwait's Ministry of Labor & Social Affairs, and I'll also assume in collusion with it, since many things that are allegedly happening don't happen without official  sanction.

I do not condone, nor encourage violence of any kind, especially when it comes to politics, but what happened last night was a 'no choice' situation by all accounts. I won't go into the details, nor post any pictures, as there are many of both in today's newspapers and blogs, so it's quite easy to dig them up, especially when they're plastered all over the front pages of Kuwaiti newspapers, and even made it to the BBC!

However, according to the step-by-step account of the Alqabas newspaper, what triggered last night's attack by the Security Forces was Al Herbish's wanton disregard for HH The Emir's order pertinent to public congregations and political speeches, pure and simple! But that's not the whole story.

I cannot begin to describe the disgust I felt when I read that MP Hayef tried to 'intervene' in the release of a wanted criminal with convictions that would make Teabag from "Prison Break" shiver in disgust! (A clarification my Hayef himself was printed yesterday) What disgusted me even more was an attempt by former MP, currently columnist, Mubarak Alduwailah, defending this so called Member of Parliament in today's newspaper, referring to him as "The Framed MP"...

Kuwait's Soluiton to the BB Ban Issue: No Porn Please!

During this past week, the UAE, matching India's concerns, boldly and courageously decided to block all Blackberry services within it's country, by October 11th, citing security concerns. Apparently, the UAE isn't too happy that it's security services are unable to access the BB's e-traffic, which prevents them from having any foreknowledge of potential criminal and/or terrorist activities before, during or after they happen. Saudi Arabia, followed suite and pre-empted the UAE by banning the BB's internet services one month before the UAE's announced ban date. 

The Saudi/Emirati decision made so many waves that it actually affected RIM's shares performances for a brief time, and the UAE/Saudi position never changed; Turning off BBM's internet services is a done deal; the security of the State is far more important than the security of RIM's royalty fees.

My Take on the Al Fadhala Issue

First off, let me be clear: Getting thrown into prison for stating one's own opinion in a Democracy is wrong, wrong, wrong! It shouldn't' have happened, neither to Khalid nor Mohammed A. Aljasem, nor Juwaihel nor Al Baghdadi, nor anyone else. Furthermore, since opinions are as abundant as certain body parts of the human anatomy, it makes no sense to draft and issue laws that punish people for speaking their minds. In fact, political system that illogically and aimlessly pursue the Law to punish the people have been proven to fail and, eventually fall, badly.

Iranian Espionage Ring Expands

The plot thickens! I just got a tweet that the recently exposed espionage ring includes 7 Kuwaitis, an undisclosed number of Iranians and Bedoons, a Syrian and a Bahraini national. They have all been formally accused of conspiring with Iran against Kuwait.

The jaw-breaker is that among the Seven Kuwaitis is a 'high-ranking' officer in the Ministry of Interior and a Business man!

Seven Kuwaitis and a few other nationals I can understand, but a high ranking MOI official and a Business man?! Of course, with regards to the businessman, whose identity will undoubtedly be known very very soon (thanks to here-say and faster-than-light word of mouth!), hell, even I have my suspicions as to who it may be right now! But a high ranking MOI official, that's quite a bite to swallow! I'm sure the MP's will be having a field day with the Minister over that one pretty soon.

The new Islam

The man in this picture is called Yousif Al Ahmed, he is a lecturer in the College of Jurisprudence, or religious law at the Saudi "Imam" University.

He called in to a tv talk show and made the most ridiculous recommendation ever; Demolish the Sacred Mosque in Mecca and rebuild it in a way that would prevent the mixing of the sexes! Of course, he based his opinion on a former edict by Saudi Arabia's Grand Mufti, the late Bin Baz, who decreed that the mixing of unmarried men and women is forbidden in Islam.

Hayef VS Lesbians

 

I waited for a day to see what would the reactions be, but I couldn't find any notable ones, aside from one on Frankom's Blog, so I decided to write my own

This MP, who considers himself as the protector of Islamic Principles, and has concocted himself his own political party, loosely translated to be called "The Ummah Principles Movement" has lodged what turned out to be a false complaint with the Police Department two nights ago. This was reported by a couple of Twitter services, the Burashed SMS News service and the Al Qabas newspaper, as far as I'm aware.

Apparently, there was a large gathering of women at a party hall in Surrah, and MP Hayef thought, or was led to believe, that it was a gathering of Lesbians, so he complained to the Police, who sent out a squad to investigate, only to find that it was a normal, well-disciplined 'Women Only' party. Now, I have a couple of issues here;

Kuwaiti MP Intervenes on Behalf of Fraud Gang

In this morning's edition of Al Qabas, it was reported that the A task force of CID and Immigration Department officers has apprehended a gang of fraudsters working out of the Al Jahra Governorate. Apparently, this gang, made up of a Kuwaiti Woman, a GCC woman who owns a Salon, and 2 Egyptian nationals (a male paperwork facilitator and a female Coiffure who works at the Salon) were involved in issuing visit visas to Egyptians and then transferring them into work visas at a cost of KD1'200, distributed among the members of the gang.
